Cover Reveal: Murder, Mayhem, and Magic by Mel Skubich and Stevie Conradi
“When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth.” – Sherlock Holmes.
But what if the truth is not only improbable, but otherworldly? Meet Alistair Gordon and Jerome Garibaldi, two Victorian gentlemen and part-time sleuths. Not only do they follow in the footsteps of the greatest detective who never lived, they meet more than they bargained for when a case of magic goes horribly wrong.
Accompany them on a journey through several Victorian murder mysteries, from a marriage that was not meant to be to a match celebrated with rose-petals. Join Alistair as his investigations lead him to opium dens and follow Jerome turn his life around as he stops being a blackmailing lay-about and becomes lover, lodger and layman detective.
Walk with us through foggy alleyways where hansom cabs and Ladies that are not paint a picture of Victorian London in six illustrated stories of murder, mayhem and magic.
All proceeds will go to BipolarUK, since Jeremy Brett who inspired us, was bipolar himself and this charity was very dear to him.

From Mel and Stevie
Mel Skubich and me known each other since 2009. We met at a Pet Shop Boys concert and we instantly clicked. Little did we know that 6 years later, we’d be flatmates, and were releasing our very first book with Victorian Murder Mysteries! While Mel had never stopped writing and has been working on her first fantasy novel over the last (eek) 6 years, I had stopped writing during my late teens. Only when I met Mel and she urged me on did I start again. And Mel and I started writing together. Since we are both fans of Sherlock Holmes (and specially of the portrayal of Jeremy Brett), we decided to created characters like that ourselves. We didn’t want it to be just pastiche, we wanted to create something of our own. And thus, Alistair Gordon and Jerome Garibaldi were born. 🙂
Mel is currently working on part one of her Mirror Walker series – Shattered. A Raoul Sinclair novel. She is nearing completion of round 2 of edits, so stay tuned, this is happening soon!
I am currently working on The Ghost of Myself, a New York Murder Mystery. Started only last year, it’s still a lot to write, but I will eventually get there and finish it. 🙂
